Watson's Wine Cellar

Watson's Wine Cellar, wine retail arm of Hutchison Whampoa Limited, opened its first store in Central Hong Kong in June 1998. It has since become the largest Specialist Wine Store in Hong Kong and now operates nine retail stores.

Watson's Wine Cellar offers the growing wine market of Hong Kong a larger range of wine than any other retail wine store in Hong Kong. With wine sourced directly from over 20 countries, Watson's Wine Cellar lists over 1,500 different wines in total, over 400 of which are 'exclusive' and cannot be found elsewhere in Hong Kong.

A particular high point of the Cellar is the Fine Wine Room containing over 300 different vintages from the top Chateaux from Bordeaux as well as the emerging New World Classics from around the world.

Wines are temperature controlled 24 hours per day, both in the Wine Cellar stores and at its 'state-of-the-art' wine warehouse, ensuring that all vintages bought from Watson's Wine Cellar are perfectly maintained till they reach the customers.

Watson's Wine Cellar offers customer free wine tasting during weekends at their Tasting Table where customers can appreciate the wines and talk to the sales team for specific information and advice. Our staff receive weekly training on both the theory and art of wine tasting. We also make sure that they know well about the quality and background of the wines in store.

HK Magazine has voted Watson's Wine Cellar the 'Best Wine Shop' since 1999 for three consecutive years, indicating that it is the best wine seller in Hong Kong.

In Autumn 2000, Watson's Wine Wholesale was launched to provide our exclusive selection of wine and beer to the On-Premise network of Hong Kong's restaurants, clubs and hotels. This exciting development will add new wine ranges and variety to the catering industry in Hong Kong.

In December 2001, Watson's wine business expanded into Europe by acquiring Swiss wine wholesaler/distributor Cantine e Distillerie Badaracco SA, which specialises in trading prestigious international wines with a balanced range of European, South American and New World vintages.

In April 2004, Watson's Wine Cellar opened its first new concept store in Lee Gardens Two. A new fine wine area is assigned in the new store for customers, from experts to wine novices, to relax and enjoy their favourite wines. The first ever interactive wine kiosk in Hong Kong is also launched to provide detailed information of each bottle of wine offered by Watson's Wine Cellar to customers. Customers can also search their favorite wines from the search engine interface at the wine kiosk.
