Andala in Italy is renamed H3G after the acquisition by Hutchison and Partners.

     
   

Acquires exclusive rights to transmit football highlights of AC Milan, Juventus, Bari, Genoa and Salernitana.

Signs an agreement with Reggiana and Reggina for the exclusive rights of the two football teams in Italy.

Signs a contract with NEC for the delivery of 3G handsets to Hutchison's global markets. This makes NEC the second supplier of Hutchison 3G handsets.

Wins 3G licences in Denmark and Hong Kong.

Selects Nokia as its system supplier for UMTS equipment in Sweden for 3GIS AB - the joint venture infrastructure company jointly owned by Hi3G and Vodafone.

     
   

Hutchison 3G Australia signs an agreement with Cricket Australia for a 5 year sponsorship of the Australian Test Cricket as well as exclusive wireless rights for Australian Test and one day matches played in Australia.

Signs an agreement with BT Cellnet to provide the establishment and operation of 2G national voice and data roaming in UK.
