3 UK announces that it has entered into agreements with its lenders to extend and amend the term of its loan facilities to support the next-stage rollout of the UK's first commercial 3G handsets, multimedia and communications service. Under the terms of the agreements, 3 UK has secured its non-recourse financing through to March 2005, extending the current terms by one year.

     
   

3 Italy announces new tariffs and launches a prepaid card service for 3. Commercial service starts with the delivery of the first handsets to the pre-registered clients.

The Group announces an agreement with NTT DoCoMo, Inc. to co-operate in the development and promotion of third-generation mobile multimedia and communications services on an international basis. This agreement initially unites the research and marketing capabilities of the two companies. Under the agreement, the two pioneers of 3G services will share information on handset development, radio network architecture and the development of global 3G standards. Additionally both companies will jointly examine potential areas of cooperation in the creation of multimedia applications, in international 3G roaming and in corporate sales and systems solutions.

     
   

Hutchison 3G Australia launches 3 - Australia's first live person-to-person mobile video telephony and information, communication and entertainment service. Services later extended to include Brisbane, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Perth in July 2003.

3 Austria opens 3Stores in Austria, marking the beginning of 3's mobile multimedia services in the country.

     
   

The Group's subsidiary Hi3G Access AB (Hi3G Access) rolls out the first 3G mobile video communication service in Sweden. Hi3G Access also starts to take pre-bookings in the first retail outlets in its distribution network throughout Sweden.

     
   

The Group's 3G video mobile brand "3" signs a global content deal with Playboy Enterprises, Inc. (PEI), giving 3 exclusive, multi-year rights to provide Playboy's print, online and broadcast libraries to customers in markets operated by Hutchison's 3G Companies.

The Group and NTT DoCoMo, Inc. announce that the two companies have agreed on further details on 25 June, 2003 regarding the agreement they concluded on 23 April, 2003 to cooperate on the development and promotion of third-generation services, based on W-CDMA technology. According to the terms of the agreement, the Group and NTT DoCoMo collaborate on the areas of handsets, standards, international roaming and radio technology.

Hi3G Access Norway AS, wholly owned subsidiary of the Group’s subsidiary Hi3G Access AB, has been awarded a licence to offer 3G services in Norway. The company will provide the Norwegian population with world-leading mobile video communication and other mobile telecom services under the brand 3.

    3 UK announces an agreement with MTV Networks Europe to provide music video and original MTV programming on video mobiles for 3 customers.

    3 Ireland launches its 3G network offering its key corporate partners access to its services in Dublin. The services currently include video mobile calling and a range of content.
     
    3 Austria announces that the deaf can telephone for the first time with handsets from 3. The innovative products and services of 3, which make communication more simple for the deaf and others, can be used now in the Vienna metropolitan area.
     
    Hi3G Denmark rolls out video communication serivces in Denmark and starts pre-booking customers.
     
    Hi3G Access AB announces the launch of the first mobile video streaming in Sweden and Denmark, allowing 3 customers in both countries to watch streamed video news on their mobiles.
     
    3 Austria rolls out 3Visual for the deaf in Austria. Mobile Video Telephony is a completely new device that enables the deaf people to communicate with each other in real time in sign language.
     
    3 Ireland signs a deal with Esat BT to build and operate its 3G radio access network in the Republic of Ireland.

    The Group signs an agreement with KPN, under which KPN agrees to sell its entire shareholding in Hutchison 3G UK to HWL. Upon completion of the transaction on 31 December 2007, the Group's shareholding in Hutchison 3G UK will increase from 65 per cent to 80 per cent.
     
    Hi3G Denmark starts distribution the first 3G phones in Denmark.
     
    Partner Communications Company Ltd. ("Partner") announces that Partner has selected Nortel Networks in a frame agreement with an estimated value of US $93 million to supply what is expected to be Israel's first third-generation (3G) UMTS Wireless Network.
     
  December 2003
    The Group marks an important development of 3 in Hong Kong by unveiling a range of exciting and innovative video mobile services made possible by the company’s ground-breaking 3G technology. 3 will deliver to customers an integrated information, communication and entertainment service on its new generation of mobile phones, which also offer video calling and video messaging. Together with NEC, the Group will launch the latest NEC 616 video mobile phone.
